The Houston Texans purchased new uniforms and gear for the Uvalde High School football team this season. The friendly gesture came after Uvalde witnessed a devastating shooting at his elementary school in May.


The team met for his pre-game dinner on Thursday, September 1, before the Friday Night Lights began. The Uvalde football team was stunned by Houston Texans head his coach Robbie Smith and Texans linebackers Christian Kirksey and Kamgurger his Hill.

The Texans announced on his Good Morning Friday, September 2, that he shared a video with America, showing the NFL team presenting Uvalde with new uniforms and gear for the season. The Texans will also honor the team with "Uvalde strong" decals on their helmets at their first home game against the Indianapolis Colts on September 11.


Additionally, the Texans will host a soccer clinic for the Uvalde community on Friday.


Texas owner Cal McNair told ABC News: "All these guys really embrace it for what they do and what they believe in."
